"Yvette Lewis was the only daughter in her family, and everyone in the extended clan looked down on her. They thought it was disgraceful that at twenty-five she still wasn't married, had no money, and insisted on working out of town.

With a casual wave of her hand, she decided to rent a boyfriend to bring home for the New Year. That's when she met Jason Boone.
Jason mistook Yvette for a blind date his mother had arranged. Just like that, he climbed into her car and got hauled straight back to her hometown.
Yvette assumed Jason came from a dirt-poor family and his parents had forced him into this line of work—boyfriend rental. The moment they arrived, her aunts and distant relatives swarmed them with questions. Yvette fired back with cool comebacks to each one.
Her cousin Megan showed up with her own boyfriend, and everyone immediately started comparing him to Jason, saying Yvette and Jason were broke losers who couldn't make it in life.
Jason spoke up boldly, claiming the gifts he'd brought were just as good, if not better.
That night, Yvette slapped down a million bucks in front of Jason. ""Buy whatever you want. Just say you bought it yourself."" She promised she'd have his back.
Jason was genuinely touched. He stepped outside to call his assistant and have him prepare some serious gifts.
When he came back, the two accidentally kissed. Jason's heart fluttered a little, but Yvette just said, ""Do I need to pay extra for that?""
The next day at the family estate, Yvette got ambushed again by the elders lecturing her. Megan made a grand entrance with her boyfriend, bragging that she'd brought five hundred thousand dollars' worth of gifts, mocking Yvette and Jason.
Jason grabbed Yvette's hand and told her to snap her fingers.

A swarm of bodyguards and assistants flooded into the courtyard, each one carrying different luxury gifts, shutting everyone up. Over time, through various small incidents, Jason found himself drawn to Yvette's quirky charm. He stepped in to help her put her relatives in their place, and even helped out around her family's place—feeding chickens, slopping pigs, chopping firewood. During a private conversation between Jason and his assistant, Megan accidentally overheard them. She discovered their relationship was fake—and that Jason was loaded.
Consumed with jealousy, Megan schemed to frame Yvette. Luckily, Jason arrived just in time to save the day.
Meanwhile, Jason's mother heard that her son had already met the in-laws and rushed over to meet them herself.
After Jason's identity was exposed, Yvette tried to bolt, but Jason caught her. ""We already kissed. You think you can just walk away without taking responsibility?""
In the end, they both fell for each other and ended up together."
